    Editorial Standards & Corrections Policy

Transparency, accuracy and accountability are the foundation of everything we publish. This page explains how we report, fact-check, use AI, correct errors and maintain editorial independence.

    Last updated: February 2026

    Our Editorial Process

Every article published on Retailnews.ai follows a structured editorial workflow designed for accuracy, clarity and relevance to retail decision-makers.

Story Selection — We prioritise developments that have a measurable impact on retail strategy, operations or technology. Our editorial calendar is shaped by industry events (NRF, Shoptalk, EuroShop, NRF APAC), earnings releases, executive interviews and emerging technology trends.

Research & Reporting — Articles are sourced from primary interviews, official earnings calls, press releases, regulatory filings, conference keynotes and verified industry data. We do not republish unverified social media rumours or anonymous tips without corroboration.

Review & Publication — All articles are reviewed by a member of our editorial team before publication. We check for factual accuracy, headline integrity, source attribution and adherence to our style guide. Breaking news may be published with a 'developing' label and updated as facts emerge.

Post-Publication Monitoring — Published articles are monitored for reader feedback, factual updates and industry corrections. Material updates are noted inline with timestamps.

    Fact-Checking Approach

Retailnews.ai is committed to factual reporting. Our fact-checking process includes:

Source verification — Claims are cross-referenced against at least two independent sources before publication. Direct quotes are verified against transcripts, recordings or official statements.

Data accuracy — Financial figures, market data and statistics are sourced from official filings (SEC, Companies House), earnings reports or recognised research firms (Euromonitor, NielsenIQ, Statista).

Expert review — Technical articles on AI, supply chain and retail media are reviewed for accuracy by our editorial team, which has 15+ years of combined retail industry experience.

Named sources — We prefer on-the-record, named sources. When anonymity is granted, we explain why in the article and ensure the source's position to know the information is credible.

    AI Disclosure Policy

We believe in full transparency about how artificial intelligence is used in our editorial process.

AI-Assisted Content — Some articles are drafted with the assistance of AI tools and then reviewed, edited and fact-checked by our human editorial team. These articles carry an 'AI-Assisted' disclosure badge. The human editor is responsible for the final accuracy and editorial quality of every published piece.

What AI Does — AI tools may be used for initial research synthesis, headline generation, structured data extraction from earnings calls, and first-draft generation based on verified source material.

What AI Does Not Do — AI does not conduct interviews, verify facts, make editorial judgements about newsworthiness, or publish content without human review. No article is published without a human editor's approval.

Our Commitment — As AI capabilities evolve, we will continue to update this policy. Our guiding principle: AI augments our journalism; it does not replace editorial judgement, accountability or the reporter's relationship with sources.

    Corrections Procedure

We take errors seriously. When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently.

How to Report an Error — If you believe an article contains a factual error, please email corrections@retailnews.ai with the article URL and a description of the issue. We review all correction requests within 24 hours.

    Correction Levels:

Minor corrections (typos, formatting, broken links) are fixed silently.

Factual corrections (wrong data, misattributed quotes, inaccurate claims) are noted at the top of the article with a correction notice, timestamp and explanation of what changed.

Significant corrections (errors that materially change the meaning or conclusion of an article) trigger a full correction notice, an updated headline if necessary, and notification to readers who engaged with the original piece via newsletter.

Retractions — In rare cases where an article is found to be fundamentally flawed or based on fabricated information, we will retract the article with a full explanation and remove it from syndication feeds.

    Ethics Guidelines

Our editorial team adheres to the following ethical standards:

Independence — Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial interests. Advertisers and sponsors have no influence over story selection, editorial angles or publication timing. Sponsored content is always clearly labelled.

Conflicts of Interest — Team members must disclose any financial interests, advisory roles or personal relationships that could create a conflict of interest related to their coverage area.

Sponsored Content — All paid or sponsored content is clearly marked with a 'Sponsored' or 'Partner Content' label. Sponsored articles follow the same quality standards as editorial content but are identified as commercially funded. See our Sponsored Content Guidelines for details.

Gifts & Events — Our team may attend industry events with press credentials. We do not accept gifts, payments or incentives that could compromise our editorial independence. Event travel funded by third parties is disclosed.

Privacy — We respect the privacy of individuals. We do not publish private information without consent unless there is a clear public interest justification.

Diversity — We are committed to representing diverse voices, perspectives and geographies in our coverage of the global retail industry.
